Micallef is somewhat peeved.

Actually, he is Mad As Hell.

A look I personally think becomes him.

Shaun Micallef will be returning to a somewhat familiar style of show and network with his latest project – Mad As Hell. Premiering on ABC1 this Friday at 8:00pm, the show will see Micallef tackle the weeks news stories in a comedic fashion in front of a live studio audience.

Micallef’s humour may not be for everyone, some say he is an acquired taste, I think he’s brilliant. He is intelligent, quirky, and quite regularly completely off the wall – all qualities I hold in high regard.

I’m really looking forward to watching the madness that will no doubt ensue, in the meantime let’s take a trip down memory lane…

Louie Louie Louie Louieeeeee

Ok bitches, get your Filofaxes out (people still use those right?) and get ready to pencil in June 28 – Louis CK  will be back on our screens. It’s kinda soon I guess, though it does feel like it’s been a lifetime between seasons. I’m definitely suffering from FX programming withdrawls (It’s Always Sunny…I need you!)

Anyway, here is the new Louie promo. Don’t get too excited, it’s shorter than the line outside a midnight screening of The English Patient 2.

Get Bent!

See what I did there? That’s the name of the TV show I’m about to discuss, turned into a Bart Simpson quote…despite the fact that this show has absolutely NOTHING to do with The Simpsons! Genius? Or merely a lack of creativity in the subject writing department?? I think we all know the answer.

Bent, a new single-camera comedy from universal, is the fact that  Jeffrey Tambour is in the cast. That is all.

The synopsis doesn’t thrill me:

The recently divorced Alex is a hard-working, high-strung lawyer who is raising her 10-year-old daughter, Charlie, as a single mom following her husband’s incarceration for insider trading. Unwilling to let anything get in her way, she downsizes into a smaller house and hires charismatic Pete, a free-spirited ladies man and recovering gambling addict who desperately needs this gig with Alex to jumpstart his life — and prove that he is no longer a screw-up. Upon hiring him, Alex quickly realizes that she has met her match in Pete, who — along with his motley construction crew – will not only tear apart her kitchen, but transform her worldview in the process.

However, with Jeff onboard, I’m willing to give it a go.  It’s produced by Tad Quill, who had a hand in such things as Scrubs and Spin City, both of which had some entertaining moments.

Live show, it’s a 30 Rock live show – it’s 30 Rock live!

Those crazy sons-of-guns down at 30 Rockefeller Plaza are doing it again!

On April 26 Tina Fey, the good Baldwin and the rest of the 30 Rock team will be keepin’ it real with a live show. All I can say is – I want to go to there!

Baldwin made the reveal during a segment on Extra a couple of days ago (sorry about the late post, but I actually had things to do at work yesterday – crazy) while also discussing his role in Rock of Ages. (Tom Cruise’s involvement in that movie still puzzles me, but that’s a discussion for another time).

I’m sure the live show will boast some pretty sweet celeb guest stars and an enjoyable version of the theme song.

Will Forte scores lead in new Fox comedy

Wouldn’t it be sweet and completely ridiculous if it was MacGruber: the series???

Yes it would!…but it isn’t.

Instead Will Forte is set to head the cast in a new Fox comedy titled Rebounding. The general gist: Will is recovering from the death of his fiancee with the help of a bunch of friends in his pickup basketball team.  I like Will Forte AND basketball, so right off the bat things are looking good. Add to that the fact that the writers/executive producers of the IT Crowd are involved PLUS the producer of Modern Family and my hopes are fairly high. Though I’ve been burned many, many times before so I’m going to try and prepare for the worst that way (as 80’s pop vocalist Yazz would say) the only way is up.

It’s time for things to Chang

I nearly peed my pants watching this.

Ok not really, but I’m pretty freakin’ excited! Only 6 more days until they are back on our screens. Back I tells ya!!!!!

Female Watson – Say waaaaaat?

Today I stumbled across the news that Lucy Liu will be staring as the first ever female Dr Watson in what is sure to be an incredibly lame US TV adaptation (titled Elementary) of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories.

Firstly: Huh?
Secondly: Why??
Thirdly: Put an end to television immediately!!*

Clearly some TV big-wig has seen how successful and completely brilliant the UK series Sherlock is and wants to cash in. The problem? There is absolutely no way that they can match that awesomeness. When I first came across the story I momentarily thought Lucy Liu would be replacing Martin Freeman in some ridiculous plot twist. I almost swallowed my Romeo and Juliet style ‘let’s-end-this-shiz-now’ vile of poison that I keep on hand in the event of an extreme TV related mishap, until upon further reading I discovered it was just the US spouting out more unoriginal, rubbish TV.

Oh well, let them do what they do best (in other words worst) at least our Sherlock is still in tact.

*Never, EVER would I wish to experience a life without television…which I suppose would actually lead to me experiencing life…I shudder at the thought.

Put on your happy pants

Community has a start date!

Our Greendale crew will be back on screens March 15!  The gracious TV Gods (yes I’m aware there is no such thing – just big wig executives wearing slippers made of unicorn fur and diving into their pits of money ala Scrooge McDuck) are smiling down on us at last. It’s been a long wait and I just hope that being reunited with Community will be as magical as I have imagined it to be.

On the downside…all programs (i.e. 30 Rock, The Office, Up All Night) are being pushed back 1/2 an hour and Parks and Rec will be taking a 5 week break. Boo-urns. Oh well, I guess we can’t have it all.

WWDGD – What would Dave Grohl Do?

Whatever the hell he wants – and he’d freakin’ nail it!

Word on the streets is that Dave has signed on to be an executive producer for a new FX comedy. Two of my favourite things coming together: Dave Grohl + TV proves that despite the existence of Kardashian’s – life isn’t all bad.

The show will apparently centre around a feuding rock band that seeks professional help when they’re about to make it big. Unfortunately, they end up with a therapist who is going through divorce and hates the human race. The good people at  Warming Glow think the idea sounds a little like Metallica’s ‘Some Kind Of Monster’ – I agree, and am hoping this results in equal amounts of hilarity minus the real-life douchers.

Adam Hills in Gordon St Tonight Season 2

Let it be known that I am still very much grieving for the loss of Spicks and Specks.  Nothing can replace the perfect mix of music, humour and slight dorkiness that it provided. It is time to move on, however, and though it isn’t an exact exchange I’ll be tuning in to Season 2 of Adam Hills in Gordon St Tonight, Feb 8, 8:30pm on ABC1 – good clean fun.
